The Project Manager is a customer/OEM-dedicated role responsible for leading the development, design, and launch of automotive or similar manufacturing programs. This position coordinates cross-functional teams and serves as the primary point of contact between the customer and internal departments to ensure successful project execution.

Our client is U.S.-invested automotive components manufacturer based in Dong Nai, specializing in the production of plastic interior and exterior vehicle parts for global OEM customer.

Job Description

Project Management

  • Lead and manage product development programs from award through production launch.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project timelines, budgets, and critical path activities.
  • Ensure all program deliverables are completed on schedule and within approved engineering, tooling, and development budgets.
  • Identify program risks, track open issues, and implement corrective actions to support successful project outcomes.
  • Establish program priorities and lead regular project review meetings.



Customer Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for customers throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Ensure all customer requirements defined in the Statement of Work (SOW) are delivered on time.
  • Attend customer build events and meetings as required to support product launches and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and key milestones to customers and internal stakeholders.



Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead the Product Development Team (PDT) and coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Design, Estimating, and Accounting.
  • Manage and support Project Engineers (PEs), Manufacturing Engineers (MEs), Quality Engineers (QEs), and Designers in achieving program objectives.
  • Facilitate collaboration among departments to resolve issues affecting quality, cost, timing, or customer expectations.



Engineering and Product Development

  • Participate in quotation reviews and program planning following new business awards.
  • Manage engineering change requests (RFQs) that impact tooling, product design, costs, or pricing.
  • Support continuous product and process improvements using set-based design methodologies.
  • Participate in Kaizen activities and A3 problem-solving initiatives.
  • Ensure complete and accurate customer part submissions are prepared, submitted, and approved by required deadlines.



Financial Management

  • Manage program budgets and monitor project profitability.
  • Work closely with Sales and Manufacturing teams to resolve:
    • Production Piece Price Amendments (3PAs)
    • Sales Orders (SOs)
    • Cost discrepancies
    • Customer debits and pricing issues

The Successful Applicant

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Equivalent engineering certification or technical qualification may be considered.



Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional product development or launch programs preferred.
  • Experience working directly with OEM customers is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes.
  • Knowledge of plastic part assembly methods.
  • Knowledge of plastic part finishing and decoration processes.
  • Understanding of product development and manufacturing launch processes.
