Job Description

As a R&D Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing innovative strategies to optimise processes in engineering and manufacturing.
  • Leading new product development (NPD) and product improvement projects for export food markets.
  • Managing the end-to-end R&D process from concept development to commercial launch.
  • Driving innovation through market research, food trends analysis, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, manufacturability, and successful commercialization.
  • Ensuring compliance with international food regulations, customer specifications, and food safety standards.
  • Optimizing product formulations and production processes to improve quality, shelf life, and cost efficiency.
  • Managing project budgets, timelines, and resources across multiple R&D initiatives.
  • Building and developing a high-performing R&D team while providing technical leadership and guidance.
  • Supporting customer engagement activities and developing customized solutions for international markets.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Innovation Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Food R&D, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong experience in new product development (NPD), product reformulation, and commercialization within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of developing products for export markets and managing multiple R&D projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth knowledge of food processing technologies, ingredient functionality, product formulation, and shelf-life optimization.
  • Strong understanding of international food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including HACCP, GMP, BRCGS, ISO 22000, FDA, EU regulations, Halal, and Kosher standards.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Experience working closely with customers, suppliers, and international business partners.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with experience coaching and developing high-performing R&D teams.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
