The Senior Cost Accountant is a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing all cost accounting activities within the manufacturing operation. This role ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and cost reporting to support effective financial control and operational decision-making.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and analyse standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead
  • Perform monthly cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and provide explanations to management
  • Monitor and control manufacturing costs, identify cost-scaving opportunities, and support continuous
  • improvement initiatives
  • Prepare cost-related reports for management, including product costing, profitability analysis, and margin
  • analysis
  • Oversee inventory valuation, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost accounting
  • Work closely with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost data
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term cost planning
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and company internal controls
  • Support internal and external audits related to cost and inventory
  • Improve and automate cost accounting processes where possible

The Successful Applicant

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Solid knowledge of cost accounting principles, variance analysis, and inventory management
  • Experience working in an international or foreign-invested manufacturing company is a plus
  • English and/or Chinese (Mandarin): Business-level proficiency preferred (spoken and written)
