The Manufacturing Engineer / Mechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and production of gas line weldments and mechanical assemblies, primarily for the semiconductor industry. This role is responsible for creating manufacturing drawings, developing production plans, supporting engineering changes, and improving manufacturing processes across fabrication, assembly and packaging.

Job Description

  1. Engineering Design & Documentation
    • Create and maintain 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
    • Add manufacturing notes, dimensions, tolerances, and conversions to customer-supplied drawings.
    • Review completed drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
    • Control, update, and maintain all mechanical drawings and engineering documentation.
    • Revise models and drawings used in assembly and production.
    • Manage engineering design projects from initial modeling through final inspection and shipment.
  2. Manufacturing Planning & ERP Support
    • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and cutting lists for ERP systems based on customer prints.
    • Develop production routers by selecting work centers, operation sequences, setup times, and run times.
    • Provide manufacturing decision support by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
    • Estimate future production requirements and review production schedules.
    • Handle ordering of consumables and production-related purchases.
  3. Process Improvement & Production Support
    • Identify and implement opportunities to improve products, processes, and manufacturing efficiency.
    • Apply knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods to reduce cost and improve quality.
    • Review and improve manufacturing methods, procedures, and workflows.
    • Design, install, troubleshoot, and support manufacturing equipment and workspaces.
    • Design layouts of equipment or work areas to maximize efficiency and safety. Apply continuous improvement methods, including Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
  4. Quality, Compliance & Problem Solving
    • Ensure product and process quality by designing test methods and validating manufacturing processes.
    • Support ISO systems, NCRs, PFMEA, 8D investigations, and internal/external audits.
    • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB), quote reviews, and engineering design meetings.
    • Determine root causes of failures using statistical and engineering methods and recommend corrective actions. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and customer requirements.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or design engineering.
  1. Technical Skills
    • Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modeling, 2D drawings, large assemblies, configurations).
    • Strong knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and revision control.
    • Understanding of machining, welding processes, heat distortion, and fabrication methods.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing tolerances, finishes, and quality requirements.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems, BOM creation, and workflow design.
    • CAM experience is a plus.
  2. Professional & Soft Skills
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (intermediate level or higher).
    • Ability to read and write standard procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
    • Comfortable working in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
