Job Description

  • Lead the development and implementation of robust legal and compliance frameworks to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee all legal and regulatory matters, maintaining effective engagement with relevant ministries, regulators, and external legal advisors.
  • Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to senior leadership and cross-functional teams on a broad range of legal and business issues.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, and develop strategic solutions to address complex challenges.
  • Support the organization in maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations through regular reviews and legal compliance initiatives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, contracts, and agreements to safeguard the organization's interests.
  • Establish and enhance internal legal processes, policies, and controls to improve efficiency and ensure best practice.
  • Provide guidance on disputes, litigation strategy, and legal risk exposure, coordinating with external counsel where required.
  • Promote a strong culture of legal awareness and compliance across the business through training and advisory support.
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulatory developments, ensuring the organization remains compliant and well-positioned to respond.

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified lawyer with relevant in-house legal experience aligned with the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Proven track record of working in complex, global organizational structures with exposure to international regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise at the senior management level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions within a complex business environment.
  • Proactive, analytical mindset with sound judgment and the confidence to challenge and provide constructive input.
  • Experience within the banking, financial services, or a similarly regulated industry is highly preferred, and will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality legal advice in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong commitment to ethics, integrity, and professional standards.
  • Ability to design and implement structured, process-driven approaches to legal and compliance matters.
