The Legal Counsel will provide broad legal support across the Vietnam business while taking primary responsibility for the country's risk and compliance function.This is a diverse, hands-on role covering corporate, commercial, employment, and dispute resolution matters, alongside support for project development, strategic investments, and M&A activities.

Our client is a well-established international investor and developer operating within the infrastructure and energy sectors. The business is actively involved in large-scale projects across the region and continues to expand its presence in Vietnam.

Job Description

The successful candidate will play a lead role in developing and maintaining the company's risk and compliance framework, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, anti-bribery and corruption standards, data privacy obligations, and internal governance policies. Working closely with both local and regional stakeholders, they will provide practical, commercially focused advice while helping the business navigate a dynamic and evolving regulatory landscape.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a versatile and commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working across a broad range of legal disciplines. The role offers significant exposure to corporate, commercial, compliance, and strategic matters, with the chance to partner directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced international environment.

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Vietnam; overseas qualifications are a plus.
  • 7+ years' PQE with broad exposure to corporate, commercial, employment, and dispute matters.
  • Strong knowledge of Vietnamese corporate, investment, labour, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts and providing practical business-focused legal advice.
  • Proven risk and compliance experience, including AML, anti-bribery, data privacy, and governance frameworks.
  • Exposure to M&A, project development, infrastructure, or renewable energy sectors is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
  • Fluent English with the ability to work effectively across international teams.
